Cavoli Riscaldati

Don't Cavoli Riscaldati.
The result of attempting to revive an unworkable relationship. Translates to "reheated cabbage."

I know my mama says I shouldn't get used to being alone, but the fact is that I'm still going to be alone for a long time. The funniest thing about this post is that while I was writing it, she sent me a mesage which said "Love you, beauty. Miss you, kisses".
I'll take good care of me, mama. I'll make my best to not turn into a totally independent person.
Love you too.

31 songs

I started reading today 31 songs, from Nick Hornby. It's a book about what music means to his life, and since I'm a great fan of him, I got really interested in. I have to confess I don't know most of the songs of the list, because I wasn't a great listener of pop music (specially in English - I'm brazilian) til the age of 14, maybe. But even though I don't know them, the way he writes keeps me just reading on. The first song he brings on is called Your love is the place where I come from.
Well, I don't want to tell the story about the song, just want to share something I read in this first chapter, if I may call it that way, that I had to admit it's plainly true.

"[...] if you love a song, love it enough for it to accompany you throughout the different stages of your life, then any specific memory is rubbed away by use".
I used to not like some songs because of the memories they brought me, or, in reverse, I used to love some songs which remember me good moments, but sometimes thought wrong to like them, because the reason I felt happy didn't exist any longer. And I was just being stupid. That's why I'd kept listening to them along the years - after I could see how silly I was being. I want the songs that inspired me a good moment continue to be present in my life, as I could choose the soundtrack of it and feel alive. I want the people I love now and may love in the future to know my soul has something registered on it. And if they like it too, that they shall dance with me.

Thanks for letting me share my inner songs with you

Talk to me

I don't wanna be the person to only receive your compliments, I wanna be someone you like to talk to.

So, I thought this text has something to do with the theme of the blog - whatever it may look like to be. I hope you enjoy the reading. I follow them on the facebook... there are a lot of good posts to reflect about.

by Sarah May Bates

What people see in you is a mirror of their experiences, their issues, their tastes and understanding. So the question is – what do you see in others? Do you see hate, anger, or kindness and love? I firmly believe that we tell others how we want to be treated with every tiny subtle action we take. Whatever you put out there will come back to you, and however you treat others they will be more inclined to treat you back. Do you have anyone you know that is just plain old pure goodness and every time they are around people everyone immediately feels at ease? I think people can see and feel the love that is overlaid on them and in someway they feel unafraid and understood. It’s very hard to be mean to someone that smiles at you with love.

Perception is a funny thing. It’s different depending on your mood at a time of day, what you read on the news in the morning, something someone said that you have heard rumors about. So many things can shift what you think is reality in the blink of an eye. And in this frozen state of pain and confusion, what can you do to stay positive? Remember who you are, get back to your center, and remind yourself that certain things are out of your control. AND always think the best of people. That one is the hard one. The cool part is that this will never get you into trouble, even when you are wrong. Thinking the best of people only helps you to do the right thing for yourself, which is be a good and loving person that embodies everything positive. I don’t mean you should give a bad person your life savings and hope for the best, but thinking that people have the best intentions at all times will get you much farther with much less drag along the way.

You yourself are read in so many different ways by people and you cannot control what they see. All you can do is know your intentions are good, you are good and loving, and they are probably trying their hardest to overcome a hurdle in their life. Be open, aware, and positive, and hope for the best. At the end of the day you can’t control anyone and what they think of you or how they treat you and as soon as you start examining them and not yourself, you’ve lost your self-awareness. What you can control is how you decide to act, and how you deal with that information. No one has the power to make you feel anything that you don’t decide to feel.

Decide on letting the bad go, remembering you are loving and good, and I believe you will see that reflected back at you from everyone you touch.

Happy Sunday and love to you all, xox Sarah

Tunnel song

Most song we love are like "tunnel songs", just the right song at the right moment. And then, we feel alive - or infinite.

quarta-feira, 12 de junho de 2013

Then again. I love this. Here I go!

1: What eye color do you find sexiest?
2: White, milk, or dark chocolate mocha?
Dark chocolate mocha.
3: If you could get a Sharpie tattoo on your back, what would it be?
4: Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?
Well, it's not a New York city, but I consider it big. It's known as "little London".
5: Your favorite adult as a child? (and not your parents, if they were your favorite)
Hmm, I guess an English teacher called Yolanda. She made me laugh a lot.
6: What kind of smoothie sounds really good right now?
7: Most embarrassing moment from your elementary school years?
Can't remember it.
8: Most embarrassing moment from your middle school years?
Well, I had a few stupid moments... concerning a boy. But which girl hasn't?
9: Most embarrassing moment from your high school years?
When I got approved at UEM in the middle of the year and no one seemed to notice...
10: Pirates or ninjas? Why?
Pirates. 'Cause it's easier to pretend you're one. Plus, the custom is more colorful.
11: Have you ever climbed a tree more than twenty feet off the ground?
I've got no idea how high is 20 feet. But I'm sure I haven't. I climbed onto my roof, though.
12: Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing set?
Oh, boy: YES! (for both)
13: If you could have any pet in the world, illegal or not, what would you get?
Could I have a giraffe for myself???
14: What's your most favorite part of your body?
My shoulders. Weird, I know. But that's why I've got a tattoo on it.
15: What's your most favorite part of your personality?
I listen.
16: Madonna or Lady Gaga? Neither? Both? Who cares?
Lady Gaga. I like the old Madonna, though.
17: Have you ever watched the Superbowl all the way through?
18: Have you ever watched any major sporting event drunk?
I never got drunk. Yeah, I'm not that funny, huh.
19: What's the most delicious food you've ever eaten in your life?
Oh, that's hard! I think our barbecue is the best in the world. But I would change a lasagna for that...
20: Margarine or butter? Which did you grow up with?
21: Whole, skim, 1%, or 2% milk? (Did you know they make 1 1/2% milk?)
Well, I'm a lactose intolerant, so...
22: Which continents have you been on?
America (except on central america) and Europe.
23: Do you get motion sickness? Any horror stories?
I did a lot of times. Well, each of them I thought I would die, haha!
24: Backpacks or satchels?
Backpacks, please.
25: Would you wear a rainbow jacket? A neon yellow sweater? Checkered pants?
No - yes - no.
26: What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Dexter's laboratory, haha!
27: If you had to have a cow or a pig, which would you take? Why?
A cow. I don't know... just remembered the Milka packing image.
28: If you had to look at one city skyline for the rest of your life, which would it be?
29: Longest plane ride you've ever been on?
Crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
30: The latest you've ever slept?
6 a.m. And it's not that rare.
31: Would you buy a sweater covered in kitten pictures? Would you wear it if someone gave it you for free?
You know it's actually trendy? I'm not a trendy person, but I would.
32: Do you pick at scabs?
I did when I was a kid. Now, I no longer do that...
33: Favorite kind of bean? Kidney? Black? Pinto?
Black. For "feijoada", haha.
34: How far can you throw a baseball?
I once "played" softball, which is not really the same, and it was a tragedy.
35: If you had to move to another country, where would you move?
Canada. There are I think 3 out of the 10 best cities to live in the world. I saw it on a roll.
36: Have you ever eaten Ethiopian food? Vietnamese? Korean? Nepalese? How was it?
Korean. Spicy.
37: Small, liberal arts school or public university? Why?
Public university. In Brazil they are the best ones, I guess.
38: A relationship with love or one with sex?
39: Do you eat enough vegetables?
Not as many as I should, but I eat them reasonably often.
40: Do you like horror movies? How about thrillers?
Yes. But I prefer thrillers. The stories are better - when there's actually a story.
41: Would you scratch a crotch itch in public?
42: Do you swear in front of your parents?
Yes. I grew up with 2 male brothers, what would you expect?
43: Coolest thing you've ever been for Halloween?
A princess. And it was the only time I've really been "something" for Halloween.
44: If you could change your natural hair color, would you? To what?
Well, I would like it ligher.

Yes for both.
46: Do you use a reusable water bottle? If not, you should.
Yes. I love them in fact.
47: City or nature person?
I'm a city person, but I like to escape it sometimes.
48: Have you ever used something other than "makeup" as makeup? (Like paint? Markers?)
49: Can you walk well in high heels? Even if you're a guy?
Well, just making it clear, I'm a girl. And yes, I can. But I'm not lucky in matters of comfort...
50: Post 5 awesome things about yourself. BRAG AWAY!
I'm a fast learner. I'm a good lover. I think I'm pretty enough. I like doing physical exercises and I still have hope on mankind.

Covers I love

So, these are the covers that made me wanna listen to their originals.
The song name has the link to the cover, and the artist/band to the original. Ok, maybe not official original, if you know what I mean... well, enjoy!

I for you - Luna Sea

Born this way - Lady Gaga

Home - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

Hey Ya - OutKast

And of course, there are the professional covers:

Still loving you - Scorpions

Umbrella - Rihanna

Kiss from a Rose - Seal

The wind beneath my wings - Bette Midler

Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush

By the way, I prefer the covers (maybe not the video itself).

Think about

"Hardly anybody ever writes anything nice about introverts. Extroverts rule. This is rather odd when you realise that about nineteen writers out of twenty are introverts. We are been taught to be ashamed of not being ‘outgoing’. But a writer’s job is ingoing." - Ursula K. LeGuin

Aí, meu caro, é inevitável o tão desejado pensamento: "é ele (a)"!
